What is The Bar Method?
The Bar Method is a revolutionary core-strengthening exercise program, combining yoga, Pilates, strength training and ballet into a barre and floor-based regime. The Bar Method shapes every major muscle group through targeted exercises that also burn away fat. The result is a clearly visible change in body shape. Muscles look longer and more defined. The body becomes leaner and more slender. And the frame becomes straighter.
How Does The Bar Method Work?
The Bar Method integrates the calorie-burning format of interval training, the muscle shaping techniques of isometrics, the elongating principles of ballet, and the science of physical therapy to create a workout that quickly and safely reshapes your entire body.
The Bar Method’s non-impact, one-hour program targets all major muscle groups by contracting or stretching them through controlled isolations performed to music. After a simple warm-up to get the heart rate going and the muscles warm, students work the upper body with free weights, push-ups and stretches using the ballet barre. Next come challenging exercises for the lower body, most of them performed in various standing positions while holding onto the barre. The Bar Method’s workout continues with floor exercises for the abdominals and glutes and concludes with a relaxing series of back and leg stretches, to release tension and help prevent soreness.
The result is a recognizable “Bar Method body” featuring sculpted arms, flat abs, a lifted seat, elongated thighs and graceful posture.
